New School Sponsorship Program!.

Many of us who grew up in the U.S. have had our moments of wishing we didn’t have to go to school, especially as teenagers. But I imagine that most of us, in moments of honest reflection, are thankful that we didn’t give into the urge to drop out of high school. We are thankful for the opportunities throughout our lives to study in a formal learning environment – we’d be even more thankful if the alternative to school was much more hopeless than working at Sonic. (My dad would often remind us, when we complained about school, that Sonic is always hiring!)

For the children at Agape Mercy Children’s Center (AMCC) in Kenya, their opportunities without school are quite hopeless: unreliable subsistence farming, begging on the street, selling their bodies, working as a maid or hired hand if they’re lucky. This Thanksgiving as you reflect on what you’re thankful for and how you’ve been blessed, would you consider giving to these children so they have the opportunity to go to school?

We are partnering with The School Fund to raise money for 2012 school fees for eight of our secondary (high school) students at AMCC. Please check out their website by clicking on the link or go to www.theschoolfund.org and look for us under the “Partners” menu. You can get to know our kids and choose one to sponsor and pray for. You don’t have to pay the whole year’s fees; any amount, big or small, will be meaningful to these children who are thankful for the smallest gift.

Happy Thanksgiving and may God continue to bless you for loving and supporting these precious children!
